THE PRIESTHOOD – in THREE MOVEMENTS

In his book The Christian Priest Today, Archbishop Michael Ramsey spells out four aspects of priesthood:

  • First: a priest is a teacher and preacher, a theologian whose study and understanding goes deep.
  • Second: a priest is a minister of reconciliation, personally living into God’s most gracious gift of Divine forgiveness and focusing on the healing power of reconciliation in the common life of the Church.
  • Third: a priest is a person of the Eucharist, the Sacraments, acting in the meeting of humanity and Divinity, acting always in Christ’s Name.
  • Fourth: a priest is a person of prayer:  a priest is one with sinners; a priest is one with Christ.

Because this fourfold priestly identity resonates so vibrantly to my sense of calling, I offer this audio/visual meditation: The Priesthood in Three Movements.
